Brian Pearl

As Principal and Co-Founder of Global City, Brian Pearl’s mission has been to develop world-class buildings that meaningfully contribute to society.

Formerly he served as the Director of Urban Development for Terra Group, one of the largest real estate developers in South Florida. In this position, he oversaw more than $2 billion of development, from property acquisitions, financial structuring and entitlements, to lender and investor relations, sales and marketing, and design and construction.

In addition to his real estate expertise, Pearl has a background in investment banking and money management. Prior to Terra Group, he worked as a fund of hedge funds manager overseeing a $300 million portfolio. Previous to that money management position, he worked on the sell side as a senior equity analyst at JP Morgan in New York. Prior to JP Morgan, he worked as an equity analyst at Salomon Brothers (also in New York) following financial institutions.

Pearl holds a master’s degree in statistics from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rice University in Houston. He has a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) designation and was ranked a top analyst by Institutional Investor, a leading international business-to-business publisher.

Pearl is a longtime supporter of Save the Children, an organization that transforms children’s lives around the world, and Auge, a Mexico-based charity that provides musical training and food to economically disadvantaged children.

Diego Procel

Diego Procel is Principal and Co-Founder of Global City, where he brings more than 20 years of extensive expertise in real estate development and finance.

Throughout his career, Procel has worked with some of the industry’s most prestigious real estate companies. Prior to founding Global City in 2014, he served as a Director for Terra Group, one of the largest real estate developers in South Florida. He also led projects at WCI Communities – which at the time of his tenure was the largest residential for-sale developer in the United States – and Codina Partners, a highly successful real estate development firm in South Florida.

Procel has provided real estate advisory services – including mergers and acquisitions, acquisition and disposition, and asset management – for significant institutions such as ICA (NYSE: ICA), Chateau Group, and Orot Flagler, among others, generating transactions that exceeded $400 million. He was also responsible for creating the first real estate fund in Ecuador with Banco Popular.

Procel holds a master’s degree in strategic management from the University of California and a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the University of Texas.

With a son in the United States military, Procel is a proud and strong supporter of those who bravely defend our country.

Adam Adler

PRINCIPAL

Adam Adler is a Principal at Global City and has over 17 years of experience in finance and real estate development.  Prior to joining Global City, he was the Chief Investment Officer and Director of Suburban development at Terra, one of South Florida’s preeminent real estate development companies, where he mainly focused on master planned communities and commercial real estate development.  During his tenure at Terra, he was involved in all facets of real estate development, including property acquisitions, financial structuring, lender and investor relations, lease negotiations, sales and marketing, design and construction, asset management and property divestitures.

In addition to real estate development, Mr. Adler has a background in investment banking.  Prior to joining Terra, he served as a vice president in structured finance at Bayview Financial, where he played a pivotal role in securitizing over $16 billion of bonds backed by residential loans and small balance commercial loans.  Prior to this role, Mr. Adler was an analyst at Burger King, where he worked on a number of the company’s franchise restructurings.

Mr. Adler holds a master’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Cornell University.  He was awarded 40 under 40 by South Florida Business Journal in 2017.

Joseph Benton

VP OF CONSTRUCTION

As Vice President of Construction, Joseph Benton brings more than 18 years of real estate development experience and is responsible for the planning and construction of the company’s projects.  Benton is a registered professional engineer and licensed general contractor with a strong business and design background.  In addition, he has extensive experience as a forensic expert witness in the assessment of both construction defects and property losses in single and multifamily luxury properties.

Prior to joining Global City, he was instrumental in the successful completion of diverse, high-profile real estate projects for Fort Capital Management, Maefield Development, and WCI Communities.  His responsibilities have included all phases of the development process from initial approvals, through design, coordination, and construction management of multiple, complex projects in Florida and the Exumas.  

Benton holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is a Registered Professional Engineer (Structural and Architectural), Special Inspector, and State Certified General Contractor in Florida.

Maria Fernanda Urdaneta

PROJECT ENGINEER

Maria Fernanda Urdaneta is a Project Engineer at Global City, working directly with the company’s vice president of construction to manage projects under construction or in pre-construction.

Urdaneta has more than 6 years of experience in construction project management and cost estimating in Florida; she has successfully completed multiple projects on time, in budget, and at the quality designated by the developer.

Prior to working as a project manager, she worked as a structural engineer in an international engineering consultant firm, creating structural designs for both residential and commercial projects. Urdaneta holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from La Universidad del Zulia in Venezuela.

 
 
 
 

Maggy Rodriguez

SENIOR PROJECT CONTROLLER

Maggy Rodriguez is the Senior Project Controller at Global City, where she manages financial reporting and accounting for the firm.

As an avid problem-solver, Rodriguez possesses a valuable skill set that focuses on increasing process efficiencies and standardizing project accounting to ensure the company and its portfolio are well-positioned for continued growth.

Rodriguez developed a passion for real estate while working in public accounting for a large real estate developer in South Florida. Rodriguez also had various clientele in distribution and non-profit.

Prior to her career in public accounting, Rodriguez served as an Assistant Controller for 12 medical centers in South Florida and assisted in timely and accurate financial statement preparation and consolidation. In this position, she managed the accounting department overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and benefits functions for over 300 employees.

Rodriguez holds a master’s degree in accounting from Florida International University.

Melissa Charria

MARKETING SPECIALIST

Melissa Charria is a Marketing Specialist at Global City, where she plays a key role in driving the firm's marketing initiatives and strategies.

In this capacity, she is responsible for developing and implementing marketing plans, conducting market research, and analyzing trends to identify opportunities for growth. Charria collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of marketing campaigns and initiatives.

With a background in the retail industry and experience working for renowned corporations like Celebrity Cruises, she brings a wealth of business acumen to her role. Her attention to detail and hospitality-oriented background contribute to the seamless integration of marketing efforts within the company.

Charria holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast media with a minor in marketing from Florida International University. Her diverse educational background equips her with a unique perspective and skill set for navigating the dynamic landscape of marketing in today's business environment.

Beth Bogart

PROJECT CONTROLLER, MASTER PLANNED COMMUNITIES

As Controller for Global City’s Master Planned Communities platform, Beth Bogart utilizes her diverse experience over 30 years in all aspects of construction accounting for single family developments, high-rise residential, and commercial developments. 

Bogart began her career at Clark Construction in New York City working in that firm’s Budget, Cost Control, Purchasing and Project Management departments on projects including the expansion of Lincoln Center. Following her time at Clark, Bogart worked at JA Jones and then Morse Diesel/AMEC where she served as Territory Controller for their Southeast Division for over a decade. Prior to joining Global City, Bogart worked developing and implementing field accounting processes and procedures for Terra Construction Management.

Bogart holds a Bachelors Degree from the State University of New York at Albany as well as a diploma in Building Construction Management from New York University. She has been dedicated to volunteering at local soup kitchens and enjoys mentoring young women in the construction industry.
