As Principal and Co-Founder of Global City, Brian Pearl’s mission has been to develop world-class buildings that meaningfully contribute to society.
Formerly he served as the Director of Urban Development for Terra Group, one of the largest real estate developers in South Florida. In this position, he oversaw more than $2 billion of development, from property acquisitions, financial structuring and entitlements, to lender and investor relations, sales and marketing, and design and construction.
In addition to his real estate expertise, Pearl has a background in investment banking and money management. Prior to Terra Group, he worked as a fund of hedge funds manager overseeing a $300 million portfolio. Previous to that money management position, he worked on the sell side as a senior equity analyst at JP Morgan in New York. Prior to JP Morgan, he worked as an equity analyst at Salomon Brothers (also in New York) following financial institutions.
Pearl holds a master’s degree in statistics from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rice University in Houston. He has a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) designation and was ranked a top analyst by Institutional Investor, a leading international business-to-business publisher.
Pearl is a longtime supporter of Save the Children, an organization that transforms children’s lives around the world, and Auge, a Mexico-based charity that provides musical training and food to economically disadvantaged children.
Diego Procel is Principal and Co-Founder of Global City, where he brings more than 20 years of extensive expertise in real estate development and finance.
Throughout his career, Procel has worked with some of the industry’s most prestigious real estate companies. Prior to founding Global City in 2014, he served as a Director for Terra Group, one of the largest real estate developers in South Florida. He also led projects at WCI Communities – which at the time of his tenure was the largest residential for-sale developer in the United States – and Codina Partners, a highly successful real estate development firm in South Florida.
Procel has provided real estate advisory services – including mergers and acquisitions, acquisition and disposition, and asset management – for significant institutions such as ICA (NYSE: ICA), Chateau Group, and Orot Flagler, among others, generating transactions that exceeded $400 million. He was also responsible for creating the first real estate fund in Ecuador with Banco Popular.
Procel holds a master’s degree in strategic management from the University of California and a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the University of Texas.

Ernesto de la Fé
Mr. de la Fé has over twenty-five years of experience in global financial markets with an extensive background in wealth management, private banking, and mid-tier institutional sales. Prior to joining Global City, Mr. de la Fé was Managing Director and Head of Latin America Wealth Management for Jefferies LLC based in Miami. He oversaw the middle markets business, UHNW individuals and family offices throughout Florida and Latin America. Previously, Mr. de la Fé was Managing Director of International Wealth Management Americas at Morgan Stanley. He is active in community and professional organizations including serving as an Associate of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, Chairman of the Miami-Dade Public Health Trust which oversees one of the largest teaching hospitals in the USA. He was also Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee of the PHT and also held the Chair role of the Fiscal Affairs Committee (www.jhsmiami.org). He graduated from Thunderbird-Gavin School of Management (MIM/MBA), Institute of International Studies and Training (Japan) and the University of Miami (BBA).
Christiaan de la Fé
SHAREHOLDER & ASSOCIATE
Christiaan de la Fé is a Shareholder and has the position of Associate in Global City. He plays an instrumental role in all facets of the real estate process, from raising capital to the management of projects.
Recognized professionally for his contact base and ongoing engagement with industry players, de la Fé’s influential network has contributed to company collaborations and growth. He is highly motivated by projects that have an impact on the community, both aesthetically and socially, which is a driving force at Global City.De la Fé has always maintained a keen interest in real estate, infusing his passion for architecture and design. His expertise spans from real estate sales as a licensed agent with one of South Florida largest brokerages, to development and acquisitions.
Prior to his career in real estate, de la Fé worked as a film and television producer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Florida International University, and is a member of the Guggenheim Young Collectors Club and Urban Land Institute.
VP OF CONSTRUCTION
As Vice President of Construction, Joseph Benton brings more than 18 years of real estate development experience and is responsible for the planning and construction of the company’s projects. Benton is a registered professional engineer and licensed general contractor with a strong business and design background. In addition, he has extensive experience as a forensic expert witness in the assessment of both construction defects and property losses in single and multifamily luxury properties.
Prior to joining Global City, he was instrumental in the successful completion of diverse, high-profile real estate projects for Fort Capital Management, Maefield Development, and WCI Communities. His responsibilities have included all phases of the development process from initial approvals, through design, coordination, and construction management of multiple, complex projects in Florida and the Exumas.
Benton holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is a Registered Professional Engineer (Structural and Architectural), Special Inspector, and State Certified General Contractor in Florida.
Melissa Charria is an Executive Assistant at Global City, where she manages day-to-day operations of the firm’s office.
In this role, she oversees a range of administrative responsibilities, including the planning and scheduling of meetings, answering telephones, and maintaining records and files.
Charria’s attention to detail and hospitality-oriented background allows for the utmost organization within the company, as well as superior customer service for Global City’s clientele and staff.
Her experience in the retail industry and working for large corporations, such as Celebrity Cruises, provides her with a strong business acumen and keen insight into how to effectively execute tasks.
SENIOR PROJECT CONTROLLER
Maggy Rodriguez is the Senior Project Controller at Global City, where she manages financial reporting and accounting for the firm.
As an avid problem-solver, Rodriguez possesses a valuable skill set that focuses on increasing process efficiencies and standardizing project accounting to ensure the company and its portfolio are well-positioned for continued growth.
Rodriguez developed a passion for real estate while working in public accounting for a large real estate developer in South Florida. Rodriguez also had various clientele in distribution and non-profit.
Prior to her career in public accounting, Rodriguez served as an Assistant Controller for 12 medical centers in South Florida and assisted in timely and accurate financial statement preparation and consolidation. In this position, she managed the accounting department overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and benefits functions for over 300 employees.
Rodriguez holds a master’s degree in accounting from Florida International University.
